Remember flip phones? Or those sliders? Those were times when form took fore and the mobile phone was more of a fashion accessory which could also make calls. Times have changed, and function in the form of crisp looking displays has taken over. However, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 could change that.
In a new press render that has leaked, the S8’s beautiful form comes out of its speculative shadow. And if you ask us, it looks smashing. With an impressive screen-to-body ratio, thanks to ultra thin bezels at the top and bottom, Samsung was hell bent on making their next flagship a looker. So much so, they don’t even mind that there wasn’t any space left at the front for branding. For those who’ve wondered what a frameless phone would look like in their hands, the Samsung Galaxy S8 gets closest to that imagination for now, courtesy of that dual-edge, curved, Super Amoled display. They’ve taken away all buttons, except the ones on the sides, and the S8 could easily tick its rival camp’s USP of a clean, uncluttered and premium design.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are said to be IP68 dust- and water-resistant and could support wireless charging. The bigger 6.2-inch variant will be called the Galaxy S8+, while the smaller ‘S8’ will sport a 5.8-inch screen. The smartphones are likely to come with an iris-scanner, a 12MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. Both devices will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor, along with 4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Samsung will launch the phone at an exclusive event in New York on March 29th and we’ll bring you more details as and when they arrive. Stay tuned!
