Despite having a sizeable number of phones in its lineup, Samsung is severely lacking behind on rolling out the latest software update on timely manner to its users, unlike rival companies such as LG and HTC. According to some sources, Samsung is now reportedly gearing up to roll out Android 6.0 Marshmallow to its Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy Note 4 devices. However, the rollout still seems to be at its nascent stage in many regions. Considering only the case of the U.S, mobile carriers for various Samsung Devices such as Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon, which are leading service providers in the region, have not offered any confirmed details on this development, unlike T-Mobile.
When it comes specifically to the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware rollout has already been available in various markets worldwide including the U.S. Mobile carrier such as Verizon and Sprint have been credited with lining up the rollout procedure pretty well. Telus and Bell are in the process of rolling out the OTA firmware update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in Canada, sources claim that the rollout will take place only by the end of April, 2016. Unfortunately, the slightly older devices such as Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge aren’t anywhere close to receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware update, everywhere in the world. However, T-Mobile has reportedly confirmed the update whereas Sprint has already started rolling out the update, so we can surely expect things to pick up some pace at last.
Google has recently made available its second developer preview for the upcoming Android N. It points towards several new and exciting features, however, not all of them are expected to make it to the final build. Considering the pace at which Google is progressing, Samsung surely needs to catch up as its devices are still stuck with Android 5.1 Lollipop.
