Samsung’s vice-president is a great Steve Jobs impersonator

You know the person on the left. It is that iconic photo of Steve Jobs, the late co-founder of Apple. You may not know the person on the right; it is Samsung’s VP Georg R. Rötzer, in a promotional headshot for his upcoming appearance at the DMEXCO conference in Germany.

Notice the uncanny resemblance? And, no, we aren’t talking about the fast-balding heads of both the tech giants. Rötzer is wearing almost the same type of rounded hipster glasses as Jobs, and his dark outfit closely resembles the Issey Miyake mock turtlenecks that Jobs wore as his signature look during his later days at Apple. New Balance sneakers aren’t visible in the picture, but we won’t be surprised if Rötzer turned out to be sporting them too.

To the latter’s credit, he is indeed using a different hand for that hold-on-I’m-in-deep-thought pose, as it appeared on the cover of the Steve Jobs biography by Walter Isaacson.

Samsung has been accused of copying apple a number of times, but going out of your way to mimic a famous picture is a bit too uninspired, and yes, a bit hilarious too. Rötzer may not be as prominent as Jobs was, but he has overseen Samsung Electronics’ corporate marketing efforts since 2009, which also happens to be around the time the company really ramped up its strategy of mimicking Apple at every opportunity.

We still want to know about those New Balance, though.
