Sennheiser Momentum headphones go wireless

Sennheiser has added a new line of wireless headphones to its popular Momentum series. Bluetooth headphones have languished in an audiophile ghetto for years — suffering from major downgrades to audio fidelity like floppy bass and a distorted soundstage. But Sennheiser is confident they can retain the pristine sound quality that has come to define past wired Momentums.

Sennheiser is making use of the aptX codec in an attempt to circumvent those deficiencies though their competitor, the Beats Wireless headphones, also make use of the codec.

Like the old wired Momentums, the new ones come in both on-ear and over-ear versions. As mentioned above the headphones are Bluetooth so that you can play music wirelessly. They’ve got NFC so that you can tap and pair easily. Besides, their wireless connectivity, the headphones also have an active noise-cancelation.

The second generation Sennheiser Momentum and Momentum Wireless are both available in Black and Ivory colors. Sennheiser has also launched the Momentum in a classic Brown edition that is optimized for Apple’s iOS devices. The wired Momentum On-Ear will be available in Black, Ivory, Brown and Silver from January 2015.
