Sony is working on a new mid-range smartphone that might be pulled out of the covers at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2017 event that is scheduled to place in Barcelona on 25 February 2017. At the said event, Sony is expected to roll out 5 new smartphones. The info on these devices is not much and the company hasn’t released any details or any teaser images or videos that could give us any idea of what’s in store for us but here’s something that has just emerged on the internet.
Sony is testing its new mid-ranger smartphone and has codenamed it as – Pikachu! Reportedly, there is no connection between the smartphone and Pokemon toon series. It is just a name that Sony has used to call its upcoming baby. It’s not just the name that we know, since the phone is under testing phase, Pikachu has been spotted on GFXBench. The web portal has revealed almost all the specifications of the smartphone. The results indicate that the phone will offer a decent performance.
So coming to the hardware, the upcoming Sony Pikachu will be fitted with a 5inch HD display that will support multi-touch up to 5 fingers. Under its hood will be MediaTek MT6757 OctaCOre CPU clocked at 2.3GHz and ARM Mali-T880 MP2 dual core GPU. It will come with 3GB RAM (2.8GB usable) and 32GB (22GB usable) inbuilt storage. On the front of the phone will be a 7MP camera and at the rear will be a 21MP Sony sensor. This single SIM phone will be equipped with a bunch of sensors including an accelerometer, Bluetooth, compass, GPS, ambient light sensor, NFC, and proximity sensor.
