Sony’s ultra-thin 4K Android TVs will start at $2,499, coming July

After wowing the show-going public with the wafer-thin X900C and X910C Android-powered 4K TVs at CES earlier this year, Sony had turned unusually quiet, refusing to divulge pricing as well as the release date. But now, the powers that be at Sony Electronics have announced both, and you can get your hands on one of these beauties very soon, provided you are ready to part with a sizeable wad of cash.

The slimmest TV of the bunch, the 0.19-inch thick X900C series, is slated to arrive in July with a hefty price tag of $2,499 for the 55-inch model. Move up and $3,999 will net you its 65-inch sibling. Both models are on presale right now. If you want to go even bigger, though, be prepared to wait longer. The X910C measuring in at a mammoth 75 inches will be available later this summer for $5,500.

Screen size is the only difference between the three models. All three come with the latest version of Android TV, with an X1 processor powering the 4K-resolution Triluminos display. You get the whole gamut of streaming apps like Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, YouTube, Hulu, and Sling TV. Full Google Cast support is obviously here, and PlayStation Now support is built in, allowing owners to streaming PS3 games straight to the TV, no console necessary.

But the standout feature of this range, by far, is the sheer thinness. The Xc900C, the thinnest of the bunch, measures a mere 0.19mm at its thinnest point, which Sony describes as “thinner than a smartphone.”

The X900C and X910C will be available at Sony stores and online stores.
