This year with the aim of kick starting 4G services Reliance Jio intends introducing entry level handset LYF Wind 4 costing only INR 6,799, which is a dual sim phone. In a statement Reliance Jio said that this dual sim smart phone comes with 4,000mAH battery, having not only 1GB RAM but also 8GB internal memory. It also features a Digital DTS Surround technology with a five inch LCD display. Besides all this the new Jio LYF Wind 4 also has a 8 MP primary camera and a 2MP secondary camera. It also comes with a high definition voice calling over (VoLTE) Voice Over Long Term Evolution facility.
Recently Reliance Jio opened up its 4G telecom operator services for general public on trial basis. But this has one disadvantage, namely that only that person who gets an invitation from an employee of Reliance Industries group firms can buy its SIM.
Reliance Retail’s handset brand LYF are currently available in the market at INR 5,599 to INR 19,499.These handsets have captured the market and since launch it is the fifth largest smart phone player ass per its first quarter report. Recently the Brokerage firm CLSA had said Reliance Retail’s LYF smart phone may become a $1 billion brand by the end of 2016-17 and it will also corner a market share of about 7%. Currently the smart phone market is dominated by Samsung, but very soon the Reliance Jio LYF Wind 4 smart phone will create a flutter in the ever changing market. The senior analyst at Counterpoint Tarun Pathak said in first quarter of its inception, Lyf instantly climbed to become one of the top five smart phone brands in India in terms of shipment volumes. He also said that LYF has captured the second position in the category of those phones that support 4G.
