After too many hiccups and change of guards, it seems like the Steve Jobs movie is finally underway. CNET reports that filming is currently taking place in Los Altos, California and will later expand to other areas of California.
“Cinderblock and wood shelves are pieced together along the walls. Roller skates, a Thermos, an old vacuum cleaner and 8-track player and stereo lay haphazardly about. An advertisement for a Braun electric coffee maker hangs on the wall, as does a poster featuring Bob Dylan holding a “Get Born” sign from a film clip featuring the song “Subterranean Homesick Blues.” And the house itself has been painted a beige color with darker tan trim, contrasting with the formerly lighter exterior.”
The biopic, which is based on Walter Isaacson’s best selling Steve Jobs biography, is said to cover three of Jobs’ most important product launches — the Macintosh computer in 1984, the NeXT computer in 1988, and the release of the iPod in 2001. Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle is attached to the project, along with original screenwriter Aaron Sorkin. Currently, Academy Award nominated actor Michael Fessbender is set to fill the shoes of Jobs. This casting choice may be subject to change, as no official announcement as been made and no scenes with Jobs have been filmed yet. Seth Rogen, who recently starred in the controversial movie The Interview, is slated to play Steve Wozniak.
Kate Winslet, known for Titanic and The Reader, will take on a leading female role, and Jeff Daniels of The Newsroom will play former Apple CEO John Sculley. Steve Jobs’ former girlfriend Chrisann Brennan will be played by Katherine Waterston, and Michael Stuhlbarg will play early Apple employee Andy Hertzfeld.
