According to a new study, it is found that in today’s world teenagers are the major consumers of data for smart phone video streaming either through Wi-Fi or through cellular data. According to the latest edition of the Ericsson Mobility Report it is found that in just 15 months that is between 2014 and 2915 the use of cellular data specially among teenagers for smart phone videos grew by 127 per cent. Another study reveals that over a period of four years (2011-15) there has been a 50 per cent drop in the time teens spend watching videos on a TV screen, and in contrast an 85 per cent increase in those viewing videos on smart phones.

The survey also predicted that most probably by 2018, mobile phones will be overtaken by the Internet of Things that is IoT, as the largest category of connected device. Many devices can be interconnected with each other like a computer can be connected to a mobile or a smart phone can be connected to a car such kind of interconnections between electronic devices is called IoT.

According to a study, it is expected that between 2015 and 2021, the number of IoT connected devices will grow by almost 23 per cent every year, out of which it is forecasted that the cellular IoT will have the highest growth rate. It is said that out of the 28 billion total devices that will be connected by 2021, nearly 16 billion will be IoT devices. Rima Qureshi, the Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, Ericsson, said IoT is now accelerating as device costs fall and innovative applications emerge. From 2020, commercial deployment of 5G networks will provide additional capabilities that are critical for IoT. The study also said that by 2021, smart phone subscriptions will almost double from 3.4 billion to 6.3 billion.
