Engineers at Turing Robotic Industries, a San Francisco-based company have finally made a smartphone like no other. Called the Turing Phone, this smartphone claims to be unhackable, unbreakable, and waterproof.
The 5.5-inch smartphone is made from a unique liquid metal alloy named liquidmorphium, whose higher strength compared to steel and aluminum protects the device from screen breakage and shock when dropped or impacted. With highly-secure end-to-end encryption being included in most of the smartphone’s core applications, it is meant to be unhackable. The Turing Phone also features nano-coating for its internal components, which makes the device waterproof. There is no sealing system on the smartphone, which means that water will be able to enter the Turing Phone if it is submerged. However, the nano-coating will protect the internal components of the device, so users will only have to dry off the smartphone to be able to begin using it again.
Users can activate the Turing Phone through the fingerprint scanner on the side of the smartphone, which is built to keep third parties and servers out of the user’s business. It features a 5.5-inch full HD 1080p display, powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 SoC with 3GB of RAM and storage options of 16/32/64GB. The phone comes with a 13MP rear-facing camera built with dual LED flash, an 8MP front-facing sensor, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi connectivity, 4G LTE network compatibility, NFC and GPS. It has a non-removable 3000mAh battery built into its back along with sensors for fingerprint, gyroscope, accelerometer, proximity, ambient light, humidity, temperature, and magnetometer. And it all runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with Turing Aemaeth UI on top of it.

There is no USB port, and no headphone jack. Instead, there’s just a single, proprietary jack that looks a little like the MacBook’s MagSafe, and Bluetooth.
The Turing Phone will be available in three different color options—Pharaoh, Cardinal, and Beowulf. Pre-orders start on July 31 with prices beginning $610 for a 16GB model. Not a bad price to pay for a smartphone that is unabashedly one foot into the future and looks like a superhero’s gadget.
