Warner Bros has stopped sales of the PC version of the hotly anticipated Batman: Arkham Knight video game. The last instalment in the acclaimed Batman Arkham trilogy, Knight was developed by Rocksteady Studios, a British video game developer. PS4 and Xbox sales for the game will continue as usual for the game that was launched simultaneously on all three platforms earlier this week.
Early PC gamers reported various bugs within the game, the most unacceptable one being a 30fps maximum limit. There were also issues with dropped frames and stuttering even when played on very high end graphics cards from Nvidia and AMD.
This is all the more sad for publisher Warner Bros. because Arkham Knight has been receiving critical acclaim elsewhere for its gameplay, story line, and combat. GameInformer gave it a 9.5 out of 10 and Knight was also awarded the Best Action Game award at E3 2014.
Warner Bros and Rocksteady has now acknowledged that there are issues with the PC port and has stated that they have pulled the plug on sales until they can figure out how to optimize the game for PC. “We’re aware that some users are reporting performance issues on PC,” Rocksteady tweeted. “We take this very seriously & we’re investigating.”
“We want to apologize to those of you who are experiencing performance issues with Batman: Arkham Knight on PC,” Warner Bros wrote in an update posted on the game’s forum. “We take these issues very seriously and have therefore decided to suspend future game sales of the PC version while we work to address these issues to satisfy our quality standards.”
