Watch John Oliver ressurect a dead cast member from Days of Our Lives for a Syrian refugee superfan

After a two-week hiatus, John Oliver returned last night to discuss the massive influx of Syrian migrants to Europe. While the issue is dire and shows that millions of people are seeking refuge from the civil wars breaking out around their countries, some news outlets have been a bit inaccurate in their coverage.

In Sunday’s episode of Last Week Tonight, Oliver took a jab at Fox News for one particular report they aired on the crisis, which uses a video claiming a possible terrorist threat for Europe while using a video that is five years old. To further highlight the overt racism in the segment, Oliver introduced a clip from the Arnold Schwarzenegger classic True Lies into the mix to show just how well the imagery worked, while listening to the audio of the pundits.

The one bright spot in Sunday night’s Last Week Tonight segment was Noujain Mustaffa, a 16-year-old disabled Syrian refugee who traveled for days by raft and train to seek asylum in Europe. Not only did we learn that she dreams of being an astronaut who will one day meet an alien and the Queen of England, but we also found out that she learned how to speak English by watching the daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives. In the news clip, we see Mustaffa speak so emphatically about the show, which she was disappointed with when it killed off her favorite character EJ DiMera.

So John Oliver used his premium cable clout to shoot a Days scene just for Noujain, starring two of her faves. E.J. has come back to life, and he’s very concerned about the migrant crisis in general and Noujain in particular. His appearance on Last Week Tonight will not only make you better understand the migrant crisis, but it will also give you chills if you’re a fan of this soap.

We hope Nageen gets a kick out of seeing EJ (James Scott) and Sami (Alison Sweeney) reunite in her honor! Watch the full Last Week Tonight segment below to see why.
