WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new feature that introduces a dedicated video note mode for its camera interface on both Android and iOS platforms. This new mode would allow users to easily record and share video notes directly from the camera screen, enhancing the app’s existing functionalities.
Video Note Mode in Beta
According to the feature tracker WABetaInfo, the dedicated video note mode has been spotted in the beta versions of WhatsApp on both Android and iOS. This new feature is expected to appear alongside the existing video and photo options within the camera interface.
For Android users, the feature has been identified in version 2.24.14.14 of the app, available through the Google Play Beta program. iOS users can access it in version 24.13.10.76 via the TestFlight Program.
Enhancing Video Messaging
WhatsApp introduced Instant Video Notes in 2023, which allowed users to record and send 60-second video messages within chats. Recently, the platform began testing a shortcut button to quickly reply to these video notes. The new dedicated video note mode in the camera interface aims to streamline this process further, making it even easier for users to share video messages.
Gadgets 360 staff have not yet verified the availability of this feature in the WhatsApp beta for Android. Currently, users can send video notes by long-pressing the camera icon in a chat, but the new mode promises a more integrated approach.
‘Imagine Me’ AI Feature
In addition to the video note mode, WhatsApp is reportedly developing an AI feature called ‘Imagine Me.’ This feature, spotted in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.14.13, will allow users to generate images of themselves using AI prompts. Users will be prompted to upload a few reference selfies when they first opt into this feature.
This development follows the recent rollout of Meta AI, the company’s artificial intelligence chatbot, in India, indicating WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to integrate advanced AI capabilities into its platform.
