Xiaomi CEO Jun Lei has now officially confirmed that the Mi Band 2 has been delayed by a month. The news was confirmed via a Weibo post. The CEO gave reasons that manufacturing the Mi Band 2 was being difficult and it would be released a month later than its originally scheduled date of May 10. The exact words that Lei used to describe the situation through his Weibo post – Mi bracelet 2 production more difficult, it is estimated to be released one month later.
The company’s Mi Band 2 is highly expected to sport a display which will be the highlight feature of the device. It is also expected to be the biggest improvement over the older generation device. The new Mi Band is expected to reduce the user’s dependence on the connected smart phone apart from featuring a small display. Users are pretty excited about the feature as the company has been time and again highlighting these two features of the upcoming device. As rumoured, the display on the Mi Band 2 will show the time alongside other fitness related details. An earlier leaked image of the device showed that the display of the wearable shows the battery status of the device too. CEO Lei Jun was, in an event, spotted wearing a smart band, which is believed to be the Mi Band 2. This is so because, in the image, Jun was seen wearing a smart band featuring a display.
The company had announced that it would unveil the new Mi Max smart phone running the new MIUI 8 version at its May 10 event. The Chinese company had also confirmed that the Mi Band 2 would also be revealed at the same day. But with the rescheduling of the launch of the new Band, it looks like the event will only have the Mi Max phablet and the next version of MIUI ROM which will be seen running on the smart phone.
