Xiaomi Launches Mi Wi-Fi Internet Speaker, Priced CNY 399 [INR 4,000]

Xiaomi has launched its new speaker system namely Mi Wi-Fi Speaker or Mi Internet Speaker in China. The new speaker system streams music from the Internet using a smartphone while also getting in-built memory to play media when there is no internet connection. Xiaomi has priced the new speakers at CNY 399 or roughly INR 4000.

The music on the speaker is played through the Millet Audio App which allows various individuals to customize a channel according to their choice.

The Xiaomi Mi Wi-Fi Speaker gets four speakers which include two 2.5-inch sub-woofers for deeper bass while the other two speakers are 20-core dome tweeters. The dimensions of the speaker system stand at 90 x 95 x 282 mm with a weight of 1.62kg.  Processing power for the speaker is provided by Amlogc 8726M3 Cortex A9 processor with connectivity options including Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth v4.1.

As mentioned before, the speaker system also gets its own in-built memory of 8GB to play music in scenarios where you don’t have an Internet connection. Other options to connect include a USB 2.0 port and 3.5mm aux-in jack.

The Xiaomi Mi Wi-Fi Speaker also supports DLNA for compatible devices. According to the Chinese company, the speaker, using apps can access a database of over 20 million tracks and connect to more than 1,500 radio stations in China.

These speakers can be operated through voice commands using a button on top. They can also double up as an alarm clock if you so wish.

One major omission here, though is the battery, or a lack thereof. The Mi Wi-FI speakers require to be connected to a power socket at all times to be operable.

The rated power for the system is 2 X 10W with and it runs on a Voltage of AC 100-240V ~ 50 / 60Hz. The Maximum power consumption of the speaker stands at 30W.

The speakers will go on sale in China on 25th November.
