Xiaomi’s Journey in India
Since entering the Indian smartphone market in 2014 with the Mi 3, Xiaomi has made significant strides. The company has established seven factories in India, with an impressive operational capacity of three smartphones per second. This aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, reflecting Xiaomi’s commitment to local manufacturing. Xiaomi asserts that 99 percent of the smartphones it sells in India are manufactured locally, with 65 percent of their components sourced domestically.
In December 2023, Xiaomi initiated a pilot project to export smartphones to neighboring countries like Bangladesh and Nepal, further expanding its footprint.
Additional Anniversary Initiatives
As part of its anniversary celebrations, Xiaomi India announced the ‘Swasth Mahila Swasth Bharat’ campaign in collaboration with the Yuvraj Singh Foundation (YouWeCan) on June 26. This initiative aims to provide early cancer screenings for over 1,50,000 women across 15 Indian states over the next year, reinforcing Xiaomi’s commitment to social responsibility.
With these initiatives, Xiaomi continues to strengthen its relationship with its Indian customer base, offering value-added services and contributing to social causes. The Mobile Service Camps represent a significant part of these efforts, providing practical benefits to users while celebrating a decade of Xiaomi’s presence in India.
