The Chinese company Xiaomi is well known for providing good products at cheap rates. This company sells many products like Power Bank, Headphones, Bluetooth speakers, Mi Band, smart phone etc. Last year in March we saw that this company that is Xiaomi brought Mi Bluetooth speakers and Mi 20,000 mAh power bank in India. And very soon that is in the first week of April itself these products were on sale.
Now in just 60 days after launch that is just two months later, we find that the company has increased the cost of both the products in India. Their prices of these products have been increased by over 25 percent. We find that the Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth Speaker which was launched in India for INR 1,999 is today being sold for INR 2,499 that is a flat increase of INR 500. Similarly Xiaomi Mi 20,000 mAh power bank was launched in India for INR 1,699 is today available for INR 2,199. Naturally, we find that the Indian customers are not happy about the hike in price, especially as the company has not given any proper reason for increasing the cost of the products.
On Social media channels, when customers enquired to the company for the reason of hiking the price, the company gave them silly answers that do not make any sense. For example, according to the response seen on Facebook, the Chinese company Xiaomi says that they are increasing the prices of the accessories in India as they are bringing more stock of accessories. Some of the other explanation given by the company are it’s to make sure that we cover up on increasing cost of selling accessories in India so as to enable us to bring in more stock for our Mi fans to purchase. It’s due to changes in cost of selling our accessories that we have revised the price. It will help us in bringing larger quantities and help our Mi fans by making them able to buy at anytime possible.
