Xiaomi has officially confirmed that its flagship smart phone – Mi 4 and Mi Note will be the first phones in its line up to receive the much awaited Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. This news was confirmed by the company’s MIUI operations manager in a Weibo post. The company representative also revealed that the first closed beta version of the same is expected to roll out soon and that it will still run MIUI 7 version based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This indeed comes as a great news for those who own the aforementioned smart phones as the new Marshmallow promises to be much better than its predecessors.
Xiaomi’sMi 4 was launched in the year 2014 with Android 4.4 Kitkat and it received the Lollipop update this October. Now, it is also slated to receive the latest and the greatest update Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Even Xiaomi’s Note, which was unveiled this year was launched with Android 4.4 Kitkat. Announcing the latest update for both the phones shows the company’s commitment to satisfy the customers of who opted for these smart phones in spite of tough competition from other companies.
With Xiaomi already having announced Android Marshmallow for its devices, the wait for its latest Mi 5 gets even tougher as it is also sure to be launched with the latest Android on board. The company has been delaying the launch of the smart phone for a long time now and according to Lei Jun who is the company CEO, the handset is worth the wait and it is very, very good.
Android Marshmallow comes with certain new features, the prominent among which is the default encryption for the handset, which could be activated only manually in Lollipop and was completely missing in the earlier versions. This would certainly mean better security and privacy for those smart phones running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
