Xiaomi Teases Its Mi Drone Ahead Of Its Wednesday Launch

Chinese technology major Xiaomi is all set to unveil its first drone on 25th of May, 2016. It is expected to be called the Mi Drone. However, until the launch makes the device public, the company wants to keep the buzz going by dropping sporadic teasers. The most recent teaser comes in the form of a 20-second video that gives us little glimpses of the soon to be unveiled drone. The video shows an all white quadcopter type drone, sporting four rotors and a revolving camera that is attached to a gimbal. There are hues of orange colour seen on the top of the blades. This may be to reinforce the colour of the Mi brand. The short teaser video ends with the event details as revealed by the company.

As per earlier reports, the drone is expected to shoot 4K quality videos at 30 fps. Xiaomi, with this launch, will mark its entry into the UAV market. The company has already entered many electronics segments like air purifiers, Wi-Fi routers, pressure cookers, and even set-top boxes. Apart from the aforementioned teaser, Xiaomi has released two other teasers in the past that initiated a buzz about the impending drone launch. The first teaser showed a bamboo-copter, while the second one gave out details of the event with a drone seen hovering on top of the image.

Earlier rumours were of a basic drone. However, the expected ability to shoot 4K videos, have sparked speculations of a high-end drone. A Chinese website Anzhuo reports that this high-end Xiaomi Drone may be priced in the range of CNY 3,999 which roughly equals INR 41,200. However, it is recommended to take all these details with a pinch, or rather, a bucketful of salt. The Xiaomi event is scheduled for tomorrow at 4.30 pm IST, and we shall know official details on the drone only then.
