As per earlier announcement LeTV’s Le Max Pro was the first phone that was going to feature Snapdragon 820 SoC but later it was revealed that even Xiaomi’s flagship smart phone -Mi 5 will be having Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor in it. The company also gave out other updates regarding what the phone will reportedly be like.
VP Liwan Jiang, Xiaomi Co-Founder and Senior confirmed the news in a Weibo post. He also said now there would be enough units available for the consumers after the launch as the company has entered mass production. The new Xiaomi Mi 5 will be launched after spring festival which will be starting on 8th Feb 2016 and lasting for 15 days. Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi added comments about Mi 5 on Weibo, which has increased anticipation among the people about the phone.
The phone has a 5.2-inch display with a full-HD or QHD resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. The phone will be available in two memory variants – 3GB of RAM which has an inbuilt storage of 32GB and 4GB of RAM which has an internal storage of 64 GB. The phone is rumoured to feature a 16-megapixel camera at the back and 13-megapixel camera at the front for selfies and video conferences. The phone has a 3600mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology that can charge the phone at a higher speed.
The phone runs on MIUI 7 which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The phone also features Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, Wi-Fi and Type-C 1.0 reversible connector. The phone has Fingerprint (ultrasound), accelerometer, compass, barometer, gyro, proximity sensors in it. The 3GB RAM variant is priced around CNY 1,999 or INR 20,300 or US $ 304 while the 4GB RAM variant is priced around CNY 2,299 or INR 23,400or US $ 350.
