Acura’s new NSX is finally here

This is it. After months, no, years, of concepts and teasers, Acura has finally pulled the wraps off the new NSX supercar. And, as you’d expect from any supercar worth its name, the NSX – new for 2016 – is a hybrid.

The Acura NSX has a lot to live upto – it is the first direct successor to the now legendary Acura NSX. Its big unveil at the Detroit Motor Show wasn’t as big a success as Honda had hoped it would be, with Ford stealing much of the thunder a few hours beforehand with its breathtaking new GT. But the NSX, after years and years in development, is finally here and it even has a price tag: $150,000.

Motive power comes from a twin-turbo longitudinally mounted V6, a three-electric motor “sport hybrid” system, mated to a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission. Acura has yet to release any power output, performance, gas mileage, or electric range capabilities for the NSX, going only to say that it would match the mighty Ferrari 458 Italia in every department.

More details will be revealed before Acura begins taking orders for the NSX in August in North America.
