After 6 Months in Space Three Astronauts Touch Down

After completing a six-month mission at the International Space Station  that is ISS, a three-man crew, which included British astronaut Tim Peake, landed in the Kazakh steppe on Saturday. Russia’s Yury Malenchenko, Nasa’s Tim Kopra and Peake who is the first British astronaut on the ISS, after spending 186 days in orbit, in their Soyuz capsule parachuted down to Earth at 0915 GMT. Medics were shown attending to the smiling men on video footage of the landing site.

Peake said that it was incredible. The best ride I’ve ever been on. It has just been fantastic, from start to finish. Referring to his six-month stint in space, he said I am going to miss the view.This  44-year-old former helicopter test pilot also said that he was looking forward to seeing his family. Nasa astronaut Jeff Williams and Russian cosmonauts Oleg Skripochka and Alexey Ovchini  who  remained aboard the ISS were bid farewell at around 0215 GMT. The Russian space agency Roscomos said that their Soyuz TMA-19M spacecraft then undocked from the ISS.

In Britain, great excitement has been generated by Peake’s mission, where on the eve of his departure for the International Space Station, an ambitious new space policy was unveiled by the government. . In January, with a mission to replace an electrical unit he was the first Briton to walk in space. When thousands were running the London Marathon in April, in record time he ran a marathon in space while being strapped to a treadmill. By marking a time of three hours, 35 minutes and 21 seconds, Peake set a Guinness World Record of achieving the title of the fastest ever marathon in space. On July 7 they have scheduled the next launch of astronauts from the Baikonur cosmodrome.
