Joining the infamous explosion-gate are Samsung’s top-load washing machines, weird, isn’t it? In an incident reported in the state of Texas has revealed a horrific accident that took place in the house of a 32-year old mother. Like every time, she put her clothes washer to the task and little did she know that this time it would be different; instead of sending out beeps the washer went boom!  The appliance exploded with so much intensity that its shattered and broken parts penetrated the walls of the room it was kept in.

This is not the only incident making news but more such instances have been reported from different parts of the US. Samsung quickly took the necessary actions and issued a consumer notice on their website stating-

“We are in active discussions with the CPSC to address potential safety issues related to certain top-load washing machines manufactured between March 2011 and April 2016. In rare cases, affected units may experience abnormal vibrations that could pose a risk of personal injury or property damage when washing bedding, bulky or water-resistant items.

Samsung is recommending that consumers with affected models use the lower speed delicate cycle when washing bedding, bulky or water-resistant materials. There have been no reported incidents when using this cycle. It is important to note that Samsung customers have completed hundreds of millions of loads without incident since 2011. CPSC and Samsung are working on a remedy for affected consumers that will help ensure there are no further incidents. We will provide updated information to the public as soon as possible on this website. This notice only applies to certain Top Load Washers manufactured before April 18, 2016. Front Load Washers are not affected.”
