Apple’s Upcoming iPad Mini 7th Generation to Feature A17 Pro Chipset, Leak Reveals

Apple is reportedly gearing up to introduce several new iPad models, including a high-performance iPad Pro with an M5 chipset and an A17 Pro-powered iPad mini.

After recently launching its latest iPad lineup following a two-year hiatus, Apple is now rumored to be developing future models, including the iPad mini 7th generation and the base iPad 11th generation. According to leaked identifiers, the next iPad mini could be powered by the A17 chipset, the same one used in the iPhone 15 Pro models. Meanwhile, the forthcoming base iPad might feature the A16 chip.

Details of the Leaked iPad Models

A post on X (formerly Twitter) by user @aaronp613, reveals that 14 iPad models were discovered through identifiers found by Nicolás Álvarez. Among these, six models have reportedly been scrapped by Apple. The scrapped models include two base iPads powered by the A14 chip and four iPad Pro models with 11-inch and 13-inch displays, initially planned to feature the M3 chip but ultimately released with the M4 chip during the ‘Let Loose’ event in May.

The leak suggests that Apple may introduce up to eight new iPad models. One identifier is linked to the purported iPad 11th generation, expected to be equipped with Apple’s A16 SoC and available in both Wi-Fi and Cellular variants.

Another identifier points to the iPad mini 7th generation, which could be powered by the 3-nanometer A17 Pro SoC, the same advanced chipset used in the flagship iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Notably, the previous iPad mini and the base iPad were launched several years ago, indicating that a refresh is overdue.

Rumored Next-Generation iPad Pro

Although Apple introduced new iPad Pro models in May, rumors indicate that the company is working on the next generation of the tablet, potentially powered by the unannounced M5 chipset. This new chip is speculated to be developed using TSMC’s cutting-edge 2-nanometer fabrication process. The upcoming iPad Pro is expected to come in two sizes, 11-inch and 13-inch, similar to the existing models, and will be available in both Wi-Fi and Cellular configurations.

As Apple continues to innovate and expand its iPad lineup, these upcoming models are poised to offer significant advancements in performance and features, keeping Apple at the forefront of the tablet market. Stay tuned for more updates as these developments unfold.
