At the CES 2017, Kingston has launched the world’s highest capacity flash drive. Called the DataTraveler Ultimate GT Flash, it can afford to have such a long name as it can store 2TB of data within its atomic body. The GT Flash will be available in 1TB and 2TB variants when it goes on sale next month.
“With the DataTraveler Ultimate GT, we empower users to increase their data storage mobility in a highly manageable form factor. This is a terrific follow up to our 1TB drive released in 2013 and by doubling the capacity, users can store and carry even larger amounts of data easily,” said Jean Wong, business manager at Kingston.
The DataTraveler Ultimate GT flash drive measures 72mm x 26.94mm x 21mm, is USB 3.1 compatible and offers excellent read/write performance, as per manufacturer claims. To provide resistance to shock, the flash drive comes in a zinc-alloy metal body. Pricing has not been revealed yet, but considering the fact that storage devices which offer such capacity are already 10X bigger and expensive, expect this one to be priced at a premium.
