Ground breaking find regarding formation of universe

big bang

Physical review letters published a story which might change our understanding about the possible formation of the universe. It goes against the popular belief of the Big Bang Theory and proposes an unexplored alternative as the beginning of the universe. The said research is on the decay of subatomic particles called Kaons which can drastically change the way how scientists understand the formation of the universe. The study is based on the principle of CP symmetry violation. This principle studies the differing behavior of Kaons as matter is swapped for antimatter as the case could have been in the initial days of the universe.

Christopher Sachrajda, from the University of Southampton has helped devise the first calculations of the aforementioned principle. This is the first step towards looking at a new and unknown phenomenon that lies outside the standard model of physicist’s present understanding regarding fundamental particles and forces between them. What now remains to be seen is whether the calculations match experimental results. Should the results fail to match, it could be conclusive evidence of an unknown phenomenon which has remained out of reach of the scientists all these centuries.

Physics

The current results do not yet indicate such a wide difference between the experiments and theory. But the scientists involved in the research expect the precision of the calculation to improve dramatically now that they have proven that they can tackle the task by coming up with the first set of calculations. If the future results are anything significant, it could also lead to several scientists currently involved in advanced study of the Big Bang theory to abandon their work and to turn to this new phenomenon which promises satisfactory answers.

It now remains to be seen what kind of experiments are planned by the scientists to prove the idea put forth by theoretical physicists. With time, either we shall be marveling at this discovery or moving on with our established scientific faith on the Big Bang theory dismissing this as just one of the distractions on the way of attaining final and conclusive results.
