The competition in the tech market is more intense than it’s ever been, and despite this we see new competitors rising up every now and then to challenge the industry titans. But despite the stiff competition, Apple iPad Pro and Microsoft Surface Pro 4 have emerged as the clear market leader. Whether iOS beats the latest Windows 10 or whether Microsoft leads the way, remains to be seen. Here’s a low down on some basics of the two devices.

The iPad Pro comes with a 12.9-inch LCD display with 2732 x 2048 resolution at 264 ppi and the Surface Pro 4 boasts of a 12.3-inch PixelTouch display with 2736 x 1824 resolution at 267 ppi. Both devices have sharp images on a relatively bigger display. The Surface Pro 4’s design is similar to its predecessor, while the iPad Pro is a bigger version of the iPad Air 2. The iPad Pro 4 is powered by an A9X dual-core processor clocking in at 2.26 GHz with 4 GB RAM. On the other hand, the Surface Pro 4 uses a sixth-generation Intel m3, i5, or i7 with 4 GB, 8 GB, or 16 GB, depending on the variant. The major difference between these two devices is really their operating systems. The iPad Pro is running iOS 9, a mobile OS. On the other hand, the Surface Pro 4 runs Windows 10 Pro which is a full desktop OS.

The iPad Pro comes in two storage options only: 32 GB and 128 GB. Meanwhile, the Surface Pro 4 comes with four storage options that start where the iPad Pro ends: 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB. Considering the design and specifications, both seem equally competitive, the choice depends on the individual, whether one would prefer an iOS UI or a Windows experience.
