Montblanc e-Strap is a smartwatch for stylish people

Montblanc, the company behind some of the most beautiful Swiss watches and fine writing implements (don’t dare to call them pens), has unveiled its first step into the world of wearable tech. The e-Strap comes as an optional extra when purchasing one of Montblanc’s Timewalker Urban Speed watches and allows the wearer to read notifications and control their smartphone’s camera and music without having to delve into their pocket for the device itself. It can also serves as an activity tracker, notification device, remote control, and Find-Me accessory. The e-Strap will connect via Bluetooth Low Energy to selected Android and iOS smartphones.

Notifications are handled via discreet vibrations, and the smartwatch screen will display, emails by topic and sender, full text messages, incoming caller ID information, and social media updates. Its activity tracker includes a pedometer, calorie counter, and distance recorder.

The TimeWalker Urban Speed e-Strap will be available beginning in June 2015, at an anticipated price of around $350. The watch itself, sadly, will cost a lot more.
