Moto X3: Our Expectations

After launching a slew of handsets under the same branding – Moto X Play, Moto X Style and Moto X Force, all of which target different user groups and therefore boast of related features, the company has left virtually nothing for us to expect out of its upcoming handset Moto X3. However, we believe that there is always some room for improvement and so we stormed our heads and made a short list of features that we would like to see for the third generation of Moto X handset, that was first launched in the year 2014.

Fingerprint scanner: Motorola was one of the companies to introduce fingerprint scanners even before Apple’s Touch ID. There were rumors floating around that the company originally wanted to include a fingerprint scanner on the 2014 flagship, the Nexus 6, but bailed out at the last minute on Google’s request. This time around, since Google has included support for finger print scanning n stock android itself, we expect the upcoming device to support the feature as well.

Better front camera: Taking selfies is an everyday necessity for many users. This is the reason why we see most handsets today equipped with large front facing camera sensors. Most manufacturers merely increase the megapixel count. Motorola is expected to keep in line with the current market trend.

Better processor: Motorola stuck with the six-core Snapdragon 808 chipset with the Moto X Style, mainly due to overheating issues. But we expect things to be spruced up with the fourth Moto X refresh as the Snapdragon 820 has become very common and also reports good performance.

RAM: This isn’t exactly a major concern for customers and fans, but it would be nice to see the RAM getting upgraded to 4GB. The Moto X Style has 3GB of RAM on board, so it won’t be a major upgrade. However, it goes without saying that Motorola will surely like to make the jump so as to give its users the best possible hardware.
