Premium Xiaomi Mi 6 variant to feature ceramic body, 6GB RAM and dual-edge display

Tipped to be launched at the MWC next month, the Xiaomi Mi 6 has now been confirmed for launch at a latter date. And if it somehow clashes with the launch of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8, which is said to make its debut on March 29, this premium version of Xiaomi’s flagship device could well steal the S8’s thunder.

What the Mi 6 lower variants could look like

A report claims that among the three variants which will be launched for the Xiaomi Mi 6, the most expensive, premium variant will feature a ceramic body, like the bezel less Mi Mix, which unfortunately remians a China only device. Where its other two poor cousins will get a flat screen display, the Mi 6’s premium variant will get a dual-edge display, just like the upcoming Galaxy S8. And where recent reports suggest that the S8 will be launched with 4GB RAM as standard, this premium Mi 6 will boast of 6GB RAM and Qualcomm’s finest chipset yet, the Snapdragon 835.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is rumored to pack a 3000 mAh battery and will run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. The rear camera is said to be a 12 MP lens with  Sony’s IMX362 sensor, while storage options can be ticked between a choice of 128 GB and 256 GB of onboard memory. Among the three, the lowest variant is rumored to be powered by a MediaTek Soc, while the other two will run the Snapdragon 835. Pricing will begin at CNY 1,999 (Approx Rs. 19,700), going up to CNY 2,999 (Approx Rs. 29,900) for the premium variant. The middle variant should sit in the centre at CNY 2,499 (Approx Rs.24,950).
