Qualcomm Launches Snapdragon Wear 1100 SoC With LTE for Wearables

In Computex 2016, we find that Qualcomm has launched a new Snapdragon Wear 1100 SoC which is specially made for wearable products. This new processor comes with many functions such as longer battery life, smarter sensing, secure location, and LTE support. Already this wearable processor is made available to OEMs with the first products, which will be announced after some time.

Compared to Wear 2100 SoC, we find that the Wear 1100 SoC is pays more attention to simpler devices like fitness trackers. It not only come with LTE, but also comes with support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. In order to bring this new tech into the market, Qualcomm has partnered with several companies like Aricent, Borqs, Infomark, and SurfaceInk  which provides reference software platforms. The Snapdragon Wear 1100 SoC also come with slow power mode called Power Save Mode (PSM), which is very much needed in today’s smart watches. Using the Qualcomm chipsets along with the reference platforms available companies like Anda Technologies, inWatch and WeBandz have announced plans to bring wearable products which are targeting not only for kids but elders too.

Already Snapdragon Wear 2100, CSR102x Bluetooth Smart 4.2 SoC, and Qualcomm SiRFStar location into the wearable market is introduced by Qualcomm. The company claims that along with the processor more than 100 wearable products are now available. Across the globe Qualcomm processors are known for being associated with flagship smart phone with almost all OEMs. The IDC reports states that in the last year, the wearable shipments increased by 171 percent. Besides Qualcomm, we also find that Asus has also launched a host of products at Computex. The company introduced the Zenfone 3 three variants, Zenbook 3, and the Asus Zenbo Household Robot with voice control.
