Rumor Mill: Samsung Galaxy S8 will come in 2 sizes, to go on sale in April

Something new has churned out of the Samsung Galaxy S8 rumor mill, but this time the information is completely new and seems legit. According to this new report, the new Samsung Galaxy S8 will be launched sometime at the end of March 2017 and will go on sale on April 21. It also says that the phone will arrive in two sizes – in the 5 to 6-inch space, and both variants will get a dual-edge, curved, ‘INFINITY’ display. An iris scanner that was first spotted on the ill-fated Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will be available on the Galaxy S8, allowing users to unlock their smartphones and authenticate purchases with their eyes.

The report mentions that the impressive screen-to-body ratio does not leave any space for even the Samsung logo to sit at the top, or the bottom. And even the fingerprint sensor moves to the back, quashing earlier rumors that the galaxy S8 will feature an on-screen optical sensor. The camera too will be a dual-pixel unit, a’la the Galaxy S7, with improvements made for better image quality and low-light performance. As novelty, the lens will be able to identify objects in the frame, with the help of a new assistant by the name of ‘Bixby’.

The report further mentions that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will feature a Type-C USB port, and both variants of the phone will come with 64GB onboard memory as standard. WIth a microSD card though, users will further be able to expand it tilll 256 GB. The 3.5mm audio jack stays and along with the phone, Samsung will also introdce several accessories, for e.g. a dock that converts the device into a mini-Android computer. New versions of the Samsung Gear VR headset and the Gear 260 camera will also make an appearance with the phone.
