Samsung Said to Have Exclusive Access to Snapdragon 820 SoC till April

The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC is one of the hottest news in the internet. There are many rumours in the market since the last 6 months about the chipset. It was initially supposed to make a debut in the Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship in 2017. But as per a media report coming out of China, Samsung has gained an early access to it. Leaked information says that Samsung has entered into an agreement with chipmaker Qualcomm to gain an exclusive access to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC until April 2016. This means no other company will be able to use the Snapdragon 820 processor on their devices. If the leaked information is true, it would give Samsung a competitive advantage over all its rivals for a couple of weeks which in turn can benefit the company by making it a major lead in the whole smart phone market as it shall be the only manufacturer producing a Snapdragon 820-equipped handset.

In a report released earlier this month, the next flagship smartphone of Samsung is supposed to be launched in four different variants. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S7 Edge Plus, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Plus. As per the rumours Samsung may have a Snapdragon version and Exynos version in these smart phones.

The design of Samsung Galaxy S7 is very close to its predecessor. It will have a pressure sensitive display. This feature resembles the 3D Touch Display possessed by iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy S7 Edge Plus are going to have dual-edge displays. Samsung Galaxy S7 will have an improved low-light camera, a USB Type-C port and will also include a retina scanner. The phone may also feature a microSD card slot. Samsung is also planning to launch the phone at a special low introductory price. The launch is expected to be held in February at MWC 2016.
