Sony is holding a press event at CES on January 5, where it is expected to officially unveil the Xperia Z4, the successor to the current Z3 and Z3v. But a leak from Phone Arena has already uncovered some of the most important details about Sony’s new flagship smartphone.

The Xperia Z4 will reportedly come with a Triluminous display measuring 5.4 inches diagonally, and a Quad HD resolution of 2560×1440. That works out to a pixel density of 544 ppi (pixels per inch), making it one of the sharpest phone screens on the market. It will also get the new 805 Snapdragon processor along with 4 GB of memory, 1 GB more than the current model’s Snapdragon 801.

There’s a chicken or egg situation here though. The 805 Snapdragon, Qualcomm’s first 64-bit chip, will not come onto the market until the first half of 2015, which raises the question of when can we expect the Sony Xperia Z4 to go on sale.

For the camera, Sony will reportedly keep the 20.7 megapixel snapper from the Z3 but with an updated image sensor. The front facing camera will see a boost to 4.8 megapixels with wide view, perfect for the new craze of group selfies. Battery life will also see a bump to 3420mAh from the current, and already excellent, 3200mAh.
