Ubisoft CEO Confirms Multiple Assassin’s Creed Remakes in Development

Ubisoft’s iconic Assassin’s Creed franchise, a cornerstone of the gaming world since 2007, continues to evolve. With over 200 million units sold, the series has transitioned from its original stealth-focused gameplay to expansive open-world RPG experiences. As fans eagerly await the next installment, Ubisoft has revealed plans for multiple remakes of older titles in the series.

Reviving Classic Assassin’s Creed Games

In a recent interview published on Ubisoft’s website, CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed that the company is working on several remakes of its classic Assassin’s Creed games. While specific titles and release dates remain undisclosed, Guillemot emphasized the potential for these remakes to modernize beloved worlds and gameplay mechanics.

“Players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games we’ve created in the past and modernize them; there are worlds in some of our older Assassin’s Creed games that are still extremely rich,” said Guillemot.

Expanding the Assassin’s Creed Universe

Guillemot highlighted Ubisoft’s commitment to offering a diverse range of experiences within the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Last year’s release, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, brought back the series’ roots with a focus on stealth and streamlined gameplay. In contrast, the forthcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows will continue the open-world RPG style seen in recent hits like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

“Our goal is to have Assassin’s Creed games come out more regularly, but not for it to be the same experience every year,” Guillemot stated. He also mentioned Assassin’s Creed Hexe, announced at Ubisoft Forward in 2022, which will explore the 16th-century witch trials. This title promises to deliver a distinct experience compared to Assassin’s Creed Shadows, aiming to surprise fans with its unique approach.

Details on Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Assassin’s Creed Shadows, set in Japan, is scheduled for release on November 15 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. Guillemot teased some of the game’s innovative features, including a dynamic weather system that will influence gameplay beyond mere visual effects. This new installment is poised to further expand the franchise’s rich tapestry of historical settings and engaging narratives.

As Ubisoft continues to build on the legacy of Assassin’s Creed, these upcoming releases and remakes promise to captivate both longtime fans and new players. With a blend of nostalgic remakes and innovative new titles, the Assassin’s Creed universe remains as dynamic and exciting as ever.
