For a long time WhatsApp has been trying to add different functions in its messaging service. Some time ago it was heard that WhatsApp would add call back, voicemail, and zip file sharing support to their service. Now it is heard that the company is planning to add video calls alongside other features. They say that the video call function will be only for few users. They may soon allow users to send group invites via NFC tags. The video call feature was spotted in translation requests. While citing translation requests Android Police reports that WhatsApp is taking all necessary steps to add the video call features. We can see in the translate requests sent by WhatsApp, a line that says Video call, and Video calling is unavailable at this time. This clearly shows that the company is ready to add the video call feature to WhatsApp soon.
In the report we also find that the video call features will be available to selected devices running beta app. It will take some time to make it available for general users. We are not sure whether video call feature will be given only to general public or will be gradually available only to users with invites just like WhatsApp voice-calling feature. It is also heard that Facebook’s WhatsApp is also adding option to send group invites via NFC tags along with sending invites via links. The reports also lets us know that the company is trying to increase the number of ways in which members of a limited group can invite other WhatsApp users to join them.
Last month’s report tells that the company is planning to add a call back feature on WhatsApp for Android and iOS. This will let its users return calls to friends by just tapping a button without opening the app.
