Vivo V5Plus smartphone with 20MP Front Facing Dual Camera launched in India at INR 27,980

Last year in November, Vivo launched their X9 smartphone in China for a price of RMB 2798. The phone boasted a Dual camera setup and the highlight of this feature was that it was for the front-facing selfie camera. On paper, the X9 and its bigger sibling, X9 Plus seem to possess an impressive set of hardware. So bringing the front facing dual camera trend to India, Vivo has launched the V5Plus for a price of INR 27,980. While the Vivo V5 that was launched last year with a 20MP selfie camera, the V5Plus comes with added hardware on the front.

Said to be India’s first-ever 20MP dual front camera smartphone, the V5Plus will be available in gold colour only. On the front of the V5Plus are two lenses consisting of a 20 MP and an 8 MP unit. The dual front camera is said to create a depth-of-field effect that manages to keep faces sharp while creating while blurring out the background. This is done with the help of a digital optical algorithm. Some of the features also allow users to add focus even after the picture has been clicked. Users can shoot first and then select the desired focus area, adding Bokeh effect wherever necessary. While all of the front camera setup comprises of some fancy hardware, at the rear is a plain 16MP camera.

Powering the Vivo V5Plus is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Octa-core CPU coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM. It gets a 5.5inch FullHD display that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. It runs on the Android OS v 6.0 Marshmallow with the optimised Funtouch OS 3.0 UI on top. It is packed with a 3055mAh battery that benefits from a twin-engine charging technology. This new tech offers a faster-charging speed and the charging protection system offers a safer process.

Other notable features of the Vivo V5 Plus include a custom-built AK4376 Hi-Fi audio chip that provides enhanced sound quality by giving a signal-to-noise ratio experience of up to 115dB, a fast fingerprint sensor with updated recognition tech, and the Smart Screen-Split feature. This new feature allows users to multi-task without having to switch back and forth every time a message pops up. Users can also chat and watch videos simultaneously on one screen.
