Watch five minutes of Faith’s amazing parkour skills in the new Mirror’s Edge Catalyst gameplay trailer

Swedish video game developers DICE gave us a first look at the upcoming Mirror’s Edge Catalyst at E3 this year, and unveiled five minutes of gameplay at the ongoing Gamescom event. Now, the studio has uploaded the same on its YouTube channel, and we are mighty impressed by what we see here.

Fans of Faith, the main protagonist in all Mirror’s Edge games, will love the improvements to the graphics, as well as the overall storyline that DICE promises will explore the origins of our favorite fictional courier. The parkour is impressive and, and there seems to be several ways now to reach your destination, be it over rooftops or the good old fashioned way. And yes, this is still a strictly-no-guns game.

The gameplay trailer shows Faith meeting a dark and shadowy character dressed in all black-a bit like Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher. Faith is trying to break into some fort of research facility and this character seems to share her objective, but we don’t know if their interests will align for long in the main game.

Infiltrating the complex, our protagonist eventually discovers a secret lab where something fishy is going on. But before she could explore more, she is discovered and once again she’s off running for her life.

Cue a lot of shattered glass rendered in artistic angles, and sinister looking bad guys being punched with some beautifully choreographed martial arts, John Woo-style.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will be available for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One come 23 Feb. 2016.
