The iPhone 6 is barely half a year old, but that hasn’t stopped the Apple rumor mill from speculating on what the next iteration might look like. Now, in keeping with Apple’s tradition of launching ‘S’ upgrades every alternate year, we are looking at the iPhone 6S and possibly a iPhone 6S Plus this year. That’s okay, but there are also reports that Apple might be going back to the smaller 5-inch screen form factor with another iPhone. Here’s the full rundown, courtesy Macworld UK:
“We’re expecting Apple to stick with the 4.7in display for the iPhone 6’s successor, as it’s a display size that seems to have gone down well with fans so far. The iPhone 6s’s camera will have a two-lens system that could help allow users to capture DSLR-quality imagery.”
Then there are other sources predicting that the iPhone 6s camera will be 10 megapixels and allow for optical zooming. This would make the iPhone camera the best on the market, regardless of not having 20 megapixels like the Samsung Galaxy S6 camera is supposed to have.
And, for the first time in many years, the iPhone might see a bump in RAM. According to Motley Fool: “Apple’s next iPhone will pack 2 gigabytes of next-generation LPDDR4 memory, rather than the 1 gigabyte of LPDDR3 memory found in the iPhone 6/6 Plus today. That’s great news for iPhone customers, especially if Apple’s next iOS release — likely called iOS 9 — features more advanced multitasking features that takes advantage of the increased memory.”
An analyst prediction have suggested Apple might debut a newly-designed 4-inch iPhone in 2015 alongside new larger-screened 4.7 and 5.5-inch devices, but it is more likely that Apple will do away with the iPhone 5c in 2015, continuing to offer the 4-inch iPhone 5s alongside an iPhone 6s and an iPhone 6s Plus. A report in January went on to claim that the 4-inch iPhone rumors are incorrect, with people familiar with Apple’s supply chain seeing no evidence of a new 4-inch device.
