Xiaomi’s Mi Band 2 to Go on Sale from June 7

Just a few weeks ago, Jun Lei, CEO, Xiaomi had hinted towards an early June release of the company’s Mi Band 2. Now it has been confirmed that the Mi Band 2 will go on sale on June 7. After unveiling the drone on Wednesday, while talking in the Q&A session, Lei said to a representative of MyDrivers that the Mi Band 2 will hit the market on June 7. This means that the company will unveil it, either before or on June 7 itself. The new fitness band was initially set for a May 10 unveil, along with the Mi Max and MIUI 8, but due to certain unavoidable issues in production, the unveil had to be delayed. The CEO had then warned of a month long delay. It now seems that Xiaomi has overcome the issues and is finally ready to announce its new and improved Mi Band 2.

Unlike the Mi Band, the new Mi Band 2 will sport an LED display screen ad well as a physical button. This was seen when Lei had briefly unveiled the band at the May 10 event. Furthermore, it is being pegged that the device will reduce its dependence on the smart phone. The device sticks on to a rubber strap, which is also expected to be available in different colours. It is, however, important to note that the sale will presumably commence in China first, as is generally the case with Xiaomi products. No word on Xiaomi’s Mi Band 2 plans for India has been made public yet. The first Mi Band was launched in the year 2014, after which Xiaomi upgraded to the Mi Band Pulse by adding a heart rate sensor.
